Yummmmmy!! When I first walked in, it was surprisingly clean. I was expecting a disgusting place due to these reviews. It was nothing of the sort. THIS PLACE IS THE BEST HIDDEN GEM IN BATON ROUGE!!! The staff is sooooo very nice and kind. You might have to repeat your order a few times for understanding purposes, but the cashier makes up for it because he is so sweet. If you haven't tried any of the meats before, just ask to try the meat of your choosing and they will let you taste it. No charge. 1 Taco is $2.09!!! The taco comes with an insane amount of meat and 2 corn tortillas. That is so cheap!!!! That's why I love this place! It satisfy's my student budget. The last time I went, I got a spicy beef taco (my favorite meat) and a chicken quesadilla. Ridiculous. That Quesadilla is loaded with cheese and meat. It still makes my head spin. Condiments are located on the side and they are all free. They have cilantro, onions, and multiple different hot sauces. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE RESTAURANTS!!!

Place is closed/closing. I drove past here today to eat and going out of business signs are up on the door.

The staff here is awesome! I would give them 5 stars! We were able to try everything before we purchased our food! We had tried so many different meats and drinks that we were starting to get full and actually couldn't finish the dinner we purchased. I ordered the barbacoa, spicy beef and spicy pork. The barbacoa was my favorite. Next would be the spicy beef. It was insanely spicy. The spicy pork was my least fav. The pork had a great taste but there were huge chunks of fat that grossed me out. I would say it was half fat half meat and that's not cool. They have some awesome green sauce. The only thing that would have made the toppings bar better would be queso fresco. Every good taco in my opinion needs cheese.

I'm only a gringo, but mi novia es Guatelmalteca, mi ex novia is Texan, and my sister lives in California, so I'd like to think I have a somewhat decent understanding of Central American food, more than the average college Taco Bell aficionado. At least as well as a gringo can have without living in Central America. I tried to visit two times before but both times they were closed. The third time, I was successful. I ordered a beef burrito and a pork tamale. This is some of the best I've ever had, and definitely the best I've had along the gulf coast. I hope they stay in business because I will likely become a regular here. They were very friendly, the food was very extremely flavorful and the portions were large. Bland food doesn't cut it in Louisiana and this place holds itself up among other local foods.

Taco N Sabor is good. In my opinion there are better taquerias in Baton Rouge, but it's definitely serviceable. The service is quick and the prices are okay. I ordered the taco platter which was about $10 if I remember correctly. I'd come back, but I just don't feel that it stands out in any particular way.

You want LEGIT Mexican food? This place is not Ninfas, Las Palmas, or Superior Grille. This place serves LEGIT Mexican food that I have seen in Mexico, New Mexico, and Arizona. The Al Pastor #perfecto. Simple menu and it is made right in front of you.

Went here for lunch and had tamales, tacos al pastor and tres leches - overall thought that it was excellent if you are looking for decent Mexican (authentic not tex-mex) food in Baton Rouge. Compared to Houston (recently moved) this place would be competitive even on their standard. Will be back!

I really wanted to like Tacos N Sabor. I read others reviews on here, and was excited for some authentic mexican food, sadly the atmosphere completely turned me off to the food. I came in around 2pm on a Saturday. No one else was dining, but there were tables that needed to be cleaned off (about half the tables in the restaurant). The lack of decor wasn't too big of a deal, but I could just tell it was not very clean inside: sticky floors, trash strewn across the floor...etc. One positive I can say, was the man working was very friendly and offered to let us try the horchata (or as he called it, "rice water.") we order, and as I went to throw my straw wrapper away, I saw a HUGE roach by the kitchen entrance!! Ok, I had already ordered my food...we got it to go. This was such a disappointment for me, as I was hoping I'd found a diamond in the rough, but I will not be returning until some major deep cleaning has occurred.

I happened to see this new restaurant while driving down College (right off of Lee) today. I stopped in to see what it was all about, and I'm so glad I did! The menu looks very authentic and the restaurant smelled delicious. The man behind the counter was also very friendly. I couldn't decide what to get, as I'm a vegetarian, and the menu is very meat-centric. I was a little discouraged and almost thought I didn't want to get anything after all, but felt too embarrassed to leave. I ended up ordering a burrito to-go with rice, beans, pico, lettuce, onions, cheese, and sour cream. The owner (and person who took my order) seemed surprised that I didn't want meat and instructed the woman making my burrito to load it up on the rest of the stuff I got. My burrito was massive! I waited until I was home to eat it, and was very pleasantly surprised by how my simple ingredients were so flavorful-- especially the pico de gallo-- yum! The tortilla is soft and obviously made in-store, and the rice and beans were just right. The best part is that there is enough for another meal later! I will definitely be back to try out other menu items. I just wish that there were grilled veggies or more vegetarian options than pico and iceberg lettuce. But, the flavor of everything else definitely made up for that!

I finally found somewhere in Baton Rouge to satisfy my breakfast taco fix! It's a small place tucked away in a shopping center off of College Drive, but when you walk in, the authenticity is there immediately. Limited decor, but the menu is all in Spanish and the beverages are all Mexican favorites - Topo Chico sodas, HORCHATA, and more. As far as food goes, they don't just do breakfast. In fact, it looks like they mostly cater to lunch - at least I hope, because there was NO ONE around when I went in around 10:00am on a Sunday and it looked like it had been hours since they had seen anyone. That being said, these guys know how to schmooze when you are the new kid on the block. After I asked for lengua and they sadly didn't have it, the owner offered his suggestions, and I'm glad he did! I went with the Barbacoa and the Pork and before he started building the tacos, he gave me a sample of each in a small sauce cup. BIG TIME BONUS POINTS. The Barbacoa had a great char on the edges and was juice and full of flavor, while the pork was more mellow in flavor but not any less juicy. He suggested to add grilled pineapple to the pork, which I happily did, and then invited me to hit up the toppings bar for further accompaniments. I loaded up on each of their homemade salsas and then went with the traditional taco toppings of cilantro and onion as well. While I was preparing and sipping my DELICIOUS Horchata, the guys were making me fresh eggs for my tacos (ANOTHER BONUS POINT) and building the masterpieces on corn tortillas. For 2 breakfast tacos, a side of refried beans, and a 16oz Horchata, I only paid $8 - the best bonus of all! When I got home and dug into these tacos with some of their hot green salsa on top, I was in heaven. Sure I was crying because that salsa is eye-wateringly delicious, but it was tears of joy! I will absolutely be back, for a taco lunch, chips and salsa, and a tall glass of Horchata. You MUST try this place when you pass through the College Drive area, especially if you don't have time to drive over to Siegen Lane to La Tiendita.

My husband and I lived in Central America/Mexico for a year and this is the most authentic place I have found in Baton Rouge (and we have been on the hunt!). In fact we were THRILLED to find this place, and meet there for lunch almost weekly. Yes, it's a bit grungly/hole in the wall, and NO authentic tacos DO NOT have cheese on them. That's tex-mex, people. The tacos al pastor, and spicy beef (don't remember exactly what they called these), tostadas, tamales, and horchata are my favorites. This is a no BS kind of place, existing to deliver authentic, delicious food. If you want tex-mex this is not it, and thank goodness!

I am from San Diego and was very ecstatic to find Mexican food that tastes real! The food is really good. It's like I went across the border but just went down the stree. Yes, I know,...the place is a dump. If you are that worried about it bring some clorox wipes for your table, relax and enjoy.

Uhmazing. Little hole in the wall with authentic Mexican food. Makes me feel like I'm back home in California

The sign on the door is in Spanish, that tells you how authentic it is. Tried the chicken, pork, and beef tacos, each tasted a little different. Their prices are reasonable, they have salsas and pico/cilantro/onions out where you can help yourself. A little difficult to get into during lunch time traffic but worth a visit.

I visited this place for the first time today.... I literally pass this place every day ( buts that's another story). I decided to give it a try to see if if he impressed or not. The service was great, the guy behind the counter gave me samples so that I could narrow my choice selection down to something I'd enjoy. I wound up buying just a quesadilla (b/c I still wasn't sure what to get), and it was pretty good. Wasn't the best thing I've had but decent. I'd like to go again tho to give them a second chance tho.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
